About the founders

Welcome to the Iowa hunters association, as the founders we would like to share this with you, We are Husband and wife, Gregory &Ashley Finch. Both of us are avid hunters .
Why did we start the Iowa hunters association ?
Every journey starts somewhere, and for us, it started when we moved to IOWA from a very much against hunting, and firearms state of California, it was more of an escape than a move, California is not what is shown in the movies. Upon arriving in Iowa in 1999 , immediately we noticed things we never seen in California, like people leaving their car running in winter to go in the store and no one steals it!
Hunting in California ,while there are places to go, other than needing to drive for hours, the huge expenses involved, the overall activity is looked down on, and most know how the politicians view firearms and having them in California. very difficult to enjoy the outdoor hunting tradition there with so many restrictions .
In Iowa ,as Hunters, we were was amazed at how much public land was close by us, we could drive 15 minutes and be at a public area , more importantly , we really loved the fact that women, and children were involved ,and largely so, this was something we longed for.
We believe hunting in Iowa is more than just a hobby. we have talked with many hunters in the field over the years and the overwhelming majority were very helpful with tips on where to go, etc. we noticed the average hunter has respect for wildlife, loves spending time with the kids , and seeing family on opening day is just honestly very heart warming to us, truth is we all only have so much time to live , and then it up, so making the memories, and making them count is of great importance to us. strengthening the bonds between generations of family and friends is absolutely important .
we built this community as a gathering place for folks who value time spent with family and friends ,ethical hunting, and who want to keep outdoor traditions alive.
Here is a place for you to get to meet other hunters, chat with them , share with them and learn from them, and even list your gear for sale if you want to , a place for hunters in IOWA to gather together , make some new friendships .
Our goal it to grow this association to the point we can organize meet and greats, honestly this is our first priority for an event, just to get members together, and interact, how much fun would that be!
We believe we accomplished this with this association , a gathering for all of Iowa hunters and their family , all are welcome, no discrimination here. Whether you are a seasoned hunter or putting on blaze orange for the first time, there is always room at our table for your story, your lessons, your your memories. Here, we celebrate every safe, responsible hunt, every recipe passed down, and every tale told around the campfire or dinner table .
we have a you tube channel we ask you to sub to, at https://www.youtube.com/@Iowahuntersassociation as videos and live shows where YOU, the member can come on and share with others on live streams is already in the works, free for all members to use, this association is all about fun, friendships, and family. and we are trying to do that .
